HIV / AIDS Education
As part of its educational campaign against HIV/AIDS Matthew 25 has established Youth Alive Clubs in high schools in the Eastern Region. They are trained to become peer educators and counselors. They attend workshops during which students are given talks on friendship/relationships, boy/girl relationships, their sexuality, career guidance, sexually transmitted infections (STI), peer pressure, drug abuse, teenage pregnancy, etc.
These clubs are used in creating awareness among the youth of how deadly HIV/AIDS is and its prevention. Participants in these programs also learn to abstain from early sexual activities and make informed decisions.
Information, Education and Communication
As part of Matthew 25’s educational program, its staff and some HIV infected patients go to talk in schools, churches, work places and communitiies to create awareness on prevention and management of HIV/AIDS. This has had a great impact and has led to positive behavioral change.
